He was born in Peekskill, NY on March 5, 1961 to the late Vincent Toohey and Madge (Clark) Bechelli. He joined the US Army serving until his Honorable Discharge. He met his soulmate Nancy in 1984 and they knew only each other from that point on marrying on January 23, 1987.
After his military life, Jeff worked with his brother Ray in the seafood business and later for Rand Whitney Container Board as a Millwright until the time of his passing. When not at work, Jeff loved to fish, be outdoors, and tend to his lawn and gardens until it was time to watch his Jets play. He was always joking and laughing with his “wise-guy” comments that kept everyone smiling. While some say their dad is their “hero”, Jeff truly was saving one daughter from drowning at the age of 6 and another from an asthma attack. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Nancy, Jeff is also survived by his children; Lynn, Megan, Danielle and Mariah, brothers; Edwin “Eddie” and John, grandchildren; Anthony, Carleigh, and Brison, and several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved best dog friend Chloe. He was predeceased by his brother Ray and his sister Lynn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Montville American Legion on Sunday, November 17th, beginning at 1:00pm with Military Honors being rendered at 1:15pm. Burial is private at the convenience of the family.
