Jenny Drake

Jenny Drake, 87, passed away on March 19, 2026. She was born in Norwich on June 11, 1938 beloved daughter to the late Percy and Nettie (Main) Drake. Jenny leaves behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and deep love for her family and friends.

Jenny grew up in Preston, Connecticut, and attended Norwich Free Academy. From a young age, she demonstrated a strong work ethic, beginning her career as a babysitter for several doctors in Norwich. She later became a familiar and friendly face as a waitress at the Dew Drop Inn in North Stonington until its closure in 1974. Jenny continued her years of service at Mr. Pizza in Ledyard from 1976 into the early 1990s, followed by the Pizza Gallery in Preston. She concluded her working years as a housekeeper at Foxwoods, where she remained until her retirement.

In 1975, Jenny welcomed her daughter, Loretta, with the love of her life. Jenny and Loretta shared an especially close bond, spending countless cherished moments together on day trips and vacations, particularly to New Hampshire where they visited dear friends Lenny and Carol LaCroix.

Jenny found joy in many simple pleasures throughout her life. In her younger years, she loved square dancing, attending country fairs, Chevrolets, and watching WWF—especially her favorite, Hulk Hogan. As time went on, her interests included NASCAR racing, listening to Kenny Rogers, and enjoying black coffee, cheese, and French onion soup. Above all, she adored her granddog, Daisy.

She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her strength and tireless work ethic, her thoughtfulness, and her remarkable ability to remember birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

Jenny was predeceased by her siblings Claude Drake, Raymond Drake, Maude Wilson, Clyde Drake, Richard Drake, and Rose Schramm. She is survived by her loving brother, Nelson Drake, her daughter, Loretta Drake, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

In honor of Jenny, those attending her services are kindly asked to wear something blue, her favorite color.

A graveside service for Jenny will be held on Friday, March 27 at 11am at the Preston City Cemetery, Preston.
