Lebanon-John W.L. Coit, age 86, of Lebanon passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born in Norwich on August 26, 1924 to the late Jeffrey and Emily Rader Coit. He went to Norwich Public Schools. He married his wife Lorraine Ramsdell Coit on September 3, 1950 in Machias, ME. John served 3 years in WWII in the Army Air Force in the Philippines in the 370th Bombardment Squadron. He worked for Pratt and Whitney as a machinist for 41 years before his retirement.
Besides his loving wife Lorraine, he is survived by his son, Steven Coit and his wife Deborah of Bozrah, a daughter Linda Bishop and her husband Daniel of Pensacola, FL; a daughter Phyllis Byrne and her husband Luke of Bristol.
He leaves behind Grandchildren Jeffrey Coit, Jonathan Coit, Kristin Coit, Kaitlyn Coit, Matthew Coit, Monica Coit, Jennifer McCaffrey, Erica Myers, Christine Byrne Gabrielli, Chad Bishop, Melissa Gilbert, and Michael Bishop.
He also leaves behind Great Grandchildren Diana Kozerefki, Leah Kozerefki, Chase Gabrielli, Owen Myers, Ariah Myers, Aidan McCaffrey, Madylin Gilbert, and James Gilbert.
Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home at 136 Sachem St. in Norwich on Thursday from 6-8 pm. A funeral home service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am. A burial will immediately follow at the Maplewood Cemetery.
