John Francis Quigley

John was born November 18th, 1928 in Hartford, CT to the late John & Margaret (Lynch) Quigley. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was discharged as a corporal.

On May 2nd 1953 he married his beloved Phyllis Mae Magner at St. Augustine’s Church in Hartford CT. He was predeceased by his loving wife on May 26th, 2006. Together they made their home in Norwich, where they raised their children and John made his career as a well respected member of the banking community, working for C.B.T., continuing his career as they made their transition to Fleet Bank.

John was a loving husband and father. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church for 44 years. He was also a very active member of the local community, involved in the Rotary, The Elks Club, The Norwich Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, Friendly Son’s of St. Patrick, and the treasurer of the Rose Arts Festival for several years. John was a beach enthusiast and in his later years, enjoyably spent his time being cared for by his daughter in law Ann, who shared his love for relaxing in the sun.

He is survived by his sons; Michael & wife, Cynthia Quigley of Moosup, Kevin & wife Ann Quigley of Norwich, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister in law, Kathy Quigley, and regrettably predeceased by his brother, Robert.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 6pm-9pm at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, W. Town St., Norwich meeting directly at church. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow.
