

Joseph “Joe” Michael Brule passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2026, surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Joe was born February 16, 1966, in Middletown, CT to the late Gerald R. Brule and Joan Brule.
Joe grew up in East Hampton, CT and was a 1984 graduate of Vinyl Technical High School in Middletown. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked as a telephone lineman. He was honorably discharged in 1988 with the rank of Sergeant.
Joe continued his career as “a telephone guy” until making a career change in 2010 to Information Technology. At the time of his death, Joe was employed as an IT Specialist at Norwich Public Utilities for the past 12 years. He and his wife have resided in Yantic, CT for 21 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed reading non-fiction and biographies, listening to music and going to concerts. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, fishing, birdwatching, and communing with nature. He also loved traveling, dining out and vacationing with the love of his life, Melanie. He cherished every memory of those times spent together.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Melanie of 23 years, his mother, Joan, daughter Katie (Thomas), son Christopher (Michelle), stepdaughters Kristen (Christopher), Candice (Zachary), three grandchildren, Madelyn, Theodore “Teddy” and Natalie, and sister Sandra (Tony).
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 28, 2026, 5-8 p.m. followed by a memorial service on Friday, May 29, 2026, 10 a.m. at Church and Allen Funeral Services, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich, CT
