Josephine R Bleir

Josephine Rosalie (Longo) Bleir went home to the Lord where she was reunited with her husband of 49 years John L. Bleir. Josephine was born on November 10, 1924 to Gregory and Mary (Piazza) Longo. Surviving Josephine is her son Samuel Bleir and his wife Teri DuBois of Norwich, CT, her grandsons Taylor and Christian Bleir, three sisters—Sue Santoro of Tinton Falls, NJ; Mary Babbitt of Norwich, CT; and Helen Washburn of Noank, CT; her Goddaughter Michele Godin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Josephine is predeceased by six brothers—Nicholas, Anthony, Gregory, Sammy, Robert, and Peter.

One of John and Josephine’s greatest joys was hosting a traditional Italian Christmas with the Longo Family that consisted of 30+ people for a sit down dinner. Many great family memories were made at the Bleir home.

Josephine was employed by John Meyers of Norwich for many years.

Calling hours will be at Labenski’s Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Avenue Norwich, CT on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 52 W. Town St., Norwich, CT meeting directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Donations in memory of Josephine can be made to Sacred Heart Church.
