Julie Ann Zabensky, 76 of Norwich and of Groton, passed away unexpectedly February 27th, 2018, in the comfort of her home. She was born to the late Helen Godek Jeffcoat on May 23rd, 1941 in Norwich, CT. Julie was a graduate from Norwich Free Academy, the class of 1959. Julie was best known for her compassionate nature towards humanity and animals alike, with a special affinity for cats. Julie would donate her time locating homes for homeless animals. I am heartbroken at the loss of Julie, I first met her 27+ years ago, and believe she must have been the sweetest, gentlest woman I have ever known. She is an angel now and I know she will always be looking out for Kimberly and her nieces.

I am so sorry to hear of Julie’s passing. As a staff member at the Groton Senior Center, I simply thought the world of her. She had an infectious smile and the kindest of hearts. You could often find her chatting it up with someone new to the center and showing them around. She loved to be around people and people loved to be around her. She was one of a kind and someone who will be dearly missed.
