He was born in Jewett City, CT on June 8, 1935 to the late Harold and Jennie May (Miner) Jeffers. After school, he joined the US Army serving in Germany post WWII. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he worked as a supervisor at the former Triangle Plastic Wire & Cable in Jewett City, then as warehouse supervisor for Gorin’s Furniture in Norwich until his retirement. Kenneth was married to Gwendolyn S. Jeffers who predeceased him.
Kenneth enjoyed his friends on the C.B. radio – known as “Maverick” to those he spoke with. He loved animals and was never without owning at least one dog at a time. He enjoyed gardening and would only eat fresh tomatoes he grew himself; a trait he got from his own father. He was a carpenter and made many things including a cradle which is still being used to this day. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by one niece, Deborah LeCompte of Sterling, one nephew, Mark Jeffers of Griswold and several great-nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brother Edmund and two sisters; Clara LaLiberte and Dorothy Bromley.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Ames Cemetery, South Burnham Hgwy, Lisbon, CT. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
