

Kurt L. Caplet, 64, of Bozrah, beloved husband of 24 years to Jeanne (Merrill) Caplet, passed away January 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 5, 1950 in Norwich, CT. Son of Louis E. and Barbara S. (Dickinson) Caplet, who predeceased him.
He graduated in 1969 from NFA. Kurt loved working with people and his community. He worked for many years at Triangle Plastic Wire and Cable in Jewett City. Most recently, he worked at Sears in Waterford, as a tools and hardware salesman, where he retired after 17 years of greeting everyone with a smile and a great conversation. His passion in life was his family, his children and grandchildren. Kurt took pride in everything he did and enjoyed making his home a welcoming place. He loved spending time on Gardner Lake and taking road trips with his wife to Virginia Beach, Florida and Ogunquit, ME. Survived by spouse Jeanne (Merrill) Caplet, son Timothy Caplet and wife Chrissy of Bozrah, son Michael Caplet and wife Jennifer of Colchester, grandchildren Ella, Nina, and Grant Caplet. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Caplet and wife Stephanie of Lebanon, brother Keith Caplet and wife Susan of Lebanon, sister Jacqueline Rubin and husband Frank of Franklin, father and mother in-law Pete and Judi Merrill of Griswold, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday Jan. 8, 2015 from 5p.m.-8 p.m. at the Church and Allen Funeral Home 136 Sachem St. Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday Jan. 9, 2015 10:00 a.m. in St. John Mission Church 190 Fitchville Road Bozrah. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery Norwich.
