Yantic- Laurie A. Eyberse, age 61, passed away after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer, in the comfort of her home on March 15, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Middletown, CT on December 4, 1962, to Edward and Terry (Connor) Clark. She married her husband William K. Eyberse on November 4, 1989, at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown, CT.
Laurie last worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Uncasville, CT. When not working, she loved going on breakfast dates with “the girls” her beloved friends, or going on rides with her husband throughout New England. When home, you could often find her cozying up on her chair with a good book or a knitting project usually joined by one of her 3 cats, or the newest addition to the family, her puppy Bailey. Most of her children’s friends loved coming over for Laurie’s Sunday dinners. She’d spend a better portion of the day in the kitchen cooking either her famous chicken and goop recipe or roast pork dinner. She would never forget dessert. Anyone who knew Laurie knew there was always something baking in the oven, or some sort of baked good hidden in the microwave. She was always the first to volunteer to make baked goods for events, especially for the Yantic Fire Engine Company Women’s Auxiliary, of which she was an active member for 33 years. Laurie was close to retirement and had plans to travel with her husband, who said he would officially retire once she did. Also, on her list, was to find her dream home away from home in New Hampshire, up in the mountains where she loved to be.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband William Eyberse, her daughter Amanda and Amanda’s husband Matthew Dawley, her sons Jonathan and Jacob Eyberse; her sister Joanne Dawley, brother-in-law William Dawley, and niece/goddaughter Jillian Dawley; her sister-in-law Karen Guertin and Karen’s husband Todd Guertin; her brother-in-law Daniel Lodyko and his wife Kelly Lodyko; along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved.
Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Home Service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate ECHO Cancer Foundation in memory of Laurie.
