Born in Norwich, Connecticut on August 28th, 1942 to Norman and Laeita Israelite, Marcia graduated from Boston University’s School of Nursing and worked for many years as a pediatric nurse.
Marcia, lovingly known as “Gaga,” leaves her husband of 58 years, David, her two children, Lisa (Debashis) and Ben (Carolyn), four grandchildren, Allie Korbey, Maddie Korbey, Noah Lieberman and Bram Lieberman, two sisters, Ruth Freedman (Don) and Diane Weinstein (Michael), sister-in-law Frankie Lieberman, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marcia loved travel and food (especially chevre cheese), theater, the opera, on-line Zumba classes, and spending time with her grandchildren – never missing an opportunity to see them in a performance, sporting event or milestone ceremony, no matter how small. She loved sharing newsworthy items from print media – whether current events, New Yorker cartoons, pop culture, cutting edge science and medical breakthroughs, sports or other hobby related curiosities, often to the surprise and delight of the chosen recipient.
A small, family-only grave-side funeral, will take place on Tuesday, June 28th at 12 PM, at the Norwich Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery, in Norwich, Connecticut.
Shiva will be observed via Zoom on Wednesday (6/29) at 7 PM and Thursday evening (6/30) at 5 PM via the following link:
