

He was born in New Jersey to Jacob and Elizabeth Rogan. Martin graduated from New York University in 1952 and entered the U S Army as a Second Lieutenant. On June 15, 1952 he married the love of his life Betty (Schatz). They had been married for 59 years.
In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his son Dennis of Bozrah and wife Susan, daughter Cindy of Narragansett and son Mark of Willimantic, CT, also granddaughter Elena Rogan Aleskiewicz of Bozrah, CT. He was predeceased by his youngest son Jack.
While serving in the U S Army, Martin spent several years on active duty during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he served in the Connecticut National Guard for twelve years and retired as a Major. He received advanced degrees from the University of Connecticut and taught for many years in the Lyme and East Lyme Connecticut Schools before joining the faculty at Eastern Connecticut State College. In 1975 he joined the staff of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission as an Examiner and frequently taught Real Estate Licensing Classes at the University of Connecticut . He retired from State service in 1988 to his home in Bozrah, CT where he was active in local politics and served for several years as Chairman of the Board of Finance.
He was a member of the Cape Coral Elks, The Westerly Yacht Club, The Jewish War Veterans of Rhode Island and Temple Beth David in Narragansett. He summered in Narragansett, R I and in 2000 established his residency in Fort Myers, Florida.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 3rd at 1:30PM at Temple Beth David, 102 Kingstown Road in Narragansett, R I.
