March 11, 1930 – March 7, 2019
Mary Manousos age 88 died on March 7, 2019. She was the daughter of Andonis and Eugenia Dimitrakis. Mary’s beloved husband James Monousos predeceased her in death. Mary worked for over 30 years as a research scientist at Pfizer. Mary was shy and gentle, but met life’s challenges with courage and strength. She was an excellent cook and ardent gardener and world traveler. She lavished her love and affection on her younger sister Hrisey Zegger and on her godson/nephew Anthony Zegger. She was also a loving Aunt to her nieces Patty (Steve) Tedesco, Kathy Manousos and nephew Steve Manousos. She was also the cousin of Anna Kiladis, Kate Arniotis and James Demetrakis. She will be missed by her family for her generosity of spirit and for her whole hearted commitment of their welfare. A memorial service for Mary will be held at a later date. I was a member of the antibiotic discovery team when Mary was working at Pfizer Central Research. I remember her as a very quiet, gentle, and kind person. She always paid strict attention to the details and expertise that a research lab required. She did her work extremely well and efficiently. In our current world, a quiet individual frequently doesn’t get the recognition that they truly deserve.
However, Mary was very respected by her peers at all levels from other lab workers as well as lab supervisors. Like most quiet and gentle people, I believe Mary was a good listener. I think we all can learn a lot from a person like Mary, by listening more and achieving a peacefulness that most of us don’t have. May Mary rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to all Family members.
Please let me know of any service that may be held for Mary. I’ll try to attend.
