Maryann E Zotti

Maryann E. Zotti of Preston passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 after a period of failing health. She was born on May 14, 1938 in Westerly, RI, the oldest child of Thomas J. Turano and Evelyn (Brogno) Turano.

She graduated from Norwich Free Academy with the Class of 1956, and from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She later earned her BSN at Eastern Connecticut State College.

Maryann spent her career as a Nursing Supervisor at Norwich Hospital for 31 years, retiring in the early 1990s.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roger Zotti. She is also survived by her son, Thomas Zotti of Wolfeboro, NH and his wife Katja Fox; her daughter Leslie Dupuy of Conroe, TX and her husband Roy Dupuy; and her grandsons Jacob Lyons of Conroe, TX; Ryan Dupuy, his wife Karla and great grandchildren Miabella and Bellamy Dupuy of Eagle Pass, TX. She is also survived by her sister Sandra Harrod of San Antonio, TX and her brother Richard Turano of Round Rock, TX. She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Reardon of Norwich, and great grandchildren Arielle and Killian Dupuy.

Maryann was an avid reader, her favorites being Charles Dickens and Anne Perry. Her favorite actor was Marlon Brando and favorite singer was Frank Sinatra. Favorite athletes included Yogi Berra and Sugar Ray Robinson.

The bumper sticker on her old Subaru summed her up perfectly. “Love people. Serve them tasty food.” Maryann loved to bake and her scones were famous from Connecticut to Texas. She loved her crossword puzzles, but only the ones in the New York Times. The local ones were too easy. She also loved traveling in and outside of the US.

Calling hours for family and friends will be Monday, January 6, 2025 from 11am-12pm at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
