Michael D. Pradel passed away on July 26th at Backus Hospital. He was the son of the late Alfio and Margaret (Tusia) Pradel.He was 78. He married his wife, Nancy (Clark) on April 16,1994. He is survived by his wife and two children, a daughter, Sarah E. (Pradel) Lawrence (David) of Virginia, and a son, Shawn M. Gould of Tennessee, He was the most beloved Poppa of Joshua Emery, (Ashley), Jakob Lawrence, and Deanna Lawrence, all of Virginia. He is also survived by Titus, his German Shepherd and ever faithful companion. He served in the U.S, Marine Corp for 6 years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent. Michael attended Mohegan Community College and received an associate degree in Criminal Justice and did a 2 years study of fingerprint identification. He worked as an officer for the Plainfield Police Department. He was a supervisor for the Housing Authority of Norwich before retiring after 20 years. After retiring Michael trained 4 dogs for the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. He loved training the dogs and was very proud of each one that went on to benefit a visually impaired person. Michael was a lifelong communicant of St Peter and Paul's Church. he served on the Parish Council, was Festival Chairman for 3 years, and a Past Grand Knight and Past District Deputy the Knights of Columbus council 12705. He was a great friend and will be missed for his compassion, sense of humor, and big smile. Donations in his memory can be sent to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in Bloomfield, Ct

I met Mike when he worked with us at the Funeral Home , after he retired. I admired the passion he had for training the Dogs , for those who needed them so badly. He will be missed, but thank God he was a part of our lives! My sincerest regards to all of you.

I have many fond memories of Mike. We've had many great discussions and many laughs too. Always treated me as his own which I will cherish forever. It's difficult to swallow that he is no longer here with us. I do believe we'll meet again. My heart and sincere condolences goes out to all of his family. Love you all.

Semper Fi Mike you are a role model To many, a Awesome person and a Genuine Friend I will miss our talks but I look forward to the day we meet again.
