

She was married to John E. Lyman in Norwich on February 14, 1970. He predeceased her on October 13, 2006. She and her husband traveled all over the United States, Canada and Europe.
She was retired from the State of Connecticut where she was secretary to three state’s attorneys for the Judicial District of New London over the 31 years she was employed there.
She was a member of the Unitarian Church of Norwich where she was Clerk for the Board of Management for 5 years and served on many committees. She was a member of AARP, Chapter 1004 and was an officer for 5 years. She was also a volunteer for many other organizations. She was a member of the Rose City Senior Center, the Connecticut State Employees Association and the Norwich Historical Society.
Mrs. Lyman was a musician and in her youth was a substitute organist for several Norwich churches. She was also a piano accompanist for various church groups, vocal and instruments soloists and the Golden Nuggets Chorus at the Rose City Senior Center for many years, and pianist in the senior band, the Roseland Combo.
At the age of 12, Mrs. Lyman was the youngest member of the Norwich Choral Society and her church choir. She sang with the Laurel-Aires of Norwich and the Thames Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines, both in the chorus and quartets. She served as vice president and chairperson of many committees for the latter two groups. She was a member of the Lebanon Community Chorus where she was music librarian and historian. She was a member of the Preston Community Chorus and served on various committees.
Mrs. Lyman was predeceased by her parent and a sister. She is survived by a close cousin, Lee Chamberlain and her family of New Hampshire, other cousins and her husband’s siblings and their families.
As an animal lover, her wish was that anyone wanting to make a donation in her memory gives to a local group that cares for animals.
Burial is private.
