Patricia Ann (Ward) Barna

Norwich-Patricia Ann Barna, age 80, of Norwich, passed away at Apple Rehab in Uncasville on February 27, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1942 in New London to the late Stanley and Geraldyne (Perry) Ward.

She had a passion for knitting and teaching others to knit. While living at Sheltering Arms in Norwich, she taught many friends how to knit and crochet. While living at Sheltering Arms, she found her best friend, Sam who taught her origami. Many friends and family alike have received crocheted gifts from her over the years, which gives us comfort knowing a piece of her will still be worn with joy and may it bring warmth on cold days. She would be delighted to be remembered whenever someone wears a scarf, hat, gloves or even one of the many baby outfits she crocheted. She would love whether they were, worn, displayed or passed down to the next generation. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone if it was in her power to do so.

Patricia is survived by a daughter Geraldyne Barna and her husband Jeffrey Hutchinson of Uncasville, a daughter Malinda Barna of Altmar, NY, a granddaughter Chloe Kallen of Norwich and her ex-husband Basil Barna Jr. of Florida. She also leaves behind a twin brother Paul Ward of Groton, a brother Stan Ward and his wife Rosemary of Uncasville, a sister Sandra McCourt of Waterford and a sister Joyce Forino and her husband Tony of Cocoa, Florida.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 8th at 11:00 AM at Comstock Cemetery, Depot Rd. Uncasville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Patricia’s honor to Sheltering Arms, 165 McKinley Ave., Norwich, CT 06360.
