Patricia “Patty Kelly” Osten (Kelly) died peacefully on April 25, 2018 at the age of 86. Pat is survived by her children, Catherine Osten of Baltic, Ellen Osten and her partner Bruce Gehrke of Fortuna CA, Lynn Ferrari and her wife Virginia Seeley of Hartford, James Osten and his wife Patricia of Holliston MA, Mary Osten and her husband Dale Williams of Norwich, Patricia Osten and her husband Gary Urbinati of Franklin, Sarah Dobkowski and her husband Thomas of Salem; ten grandchildren, Rachel Stahl and her husband Tim, Kyle Daniska, Roy Predmore and his wife Ashley, Nikki Urbinati, Chris Predmore and his wife Courtney, Matt Osten, Dan Urbinati, Brad Osten, Cole Osten, Arrielle Dobkowski; ten great grandchildren, Logan, Larkin, Summer, Nala, Caeden, Jackson, Lex, Madison, Parker, Colton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James, her daughter Linda, and her brothers and sisters affectionately referred to as the Kelly Clan of Taftville. Pat was born on July 7, 1931 in Taftville to Edward and Frances Kelly. She graduated from Willimantic State Teachers College in 1953. Jim and Pat ran the luncheonette at the Norwich Ten Pin from 1963 to 1986. After Jim passed, Pat opened the Patti-O Restaurant in Yantic, which she ran until 1997. Both businesses were known for their wonderful homestyle food and welcoming family atmosphere. The restaurants had been a family affair, extending to the children and many of the cousins, who were provided their first jobs there. Pat was a strong woman – in body, spirit, and mind, an independent woman before it was common place to be, strong in her convictions but nonjudgmental, and she had enormous pride in her Irish heritage and her family. Pat will be sorely missed. Calling hours will be held, Friday May 11th from 4:00 PM till 7:00PM at the Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich. A funeral is scheduled for May 12 at Sacred Heart Church, 52 West Town Street in Norwichtown, with an inurnment to follow in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Avenue, Norwich.
