Born on April 12, 1929, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Patricia was the beloved daughter of Richard and Albina Ash. She grew up with a strong sense of compassion and dedication that would guide her throughout her life. Patricia pursued her passion for helping others by earning a degree in nursing from Regis College. She went on to serve as an operating room nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, where her skill, kindness, and steady presence touched many lives.
It was there that she met a young surgical resident, Anthony Tramontozzi. Their meeting began a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They were married on October 4, 1957, and shared more than 50 wonderful years together. He predeased her in 2012.
After a time spent in the military, Patricia and Anthony moved to Norwich, Connecticut, where they raised their five children and built a warm and welcoming home. Pat was a loving and devoted mother to Mark (Mary) Tramontozzi of Norwich, Daniel Tramontozzi also of Norwich, Karen (Buzz) Keene of Denver, CO, Joni Tramontozzi of Norwich, and Ann (David) Brennan of Ramsey, NJ. She was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply—and who adored her in return.
In addition to caring for her family, Pat generously gave her time as a volunteer at several organizations. Her favorite role was at Backus Hospital in Norwich, where she was fondly known as the “mail lady” for many years, bringing smiles to patients and staff alike.
What mattered most to Pat was her family. She reveled in time spent together, especially at family picnics and the much-anticipated annual “Cousins’ Day,” which brought her great joy and, even in later years, a renewed sense of liveliness.
The family extends special thanks to Nadia, whose devotion and tenderness over the past eight years allowed Mom to remain in her home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She will always be considered a member of our family, and we are forever grateful for her care.
Patricia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generosity, and her unwavering love for those around her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Labenski Funeral Home on Boswell Avenue in Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Norwich, followed by burial in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
