Paul Edward Daley, affectionately known to many as “Paulie,” passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born on December 20, 1958, in Norwich, Connecticut, Paul was the son of the late George E. Daley Sr. and Angie Mae Cornell Daley. He was raised in Norwich and attended Norwich Public Schools.
Paul spent much of his working life doing what his sons always knew him for—working with his hands as a custodian and maintenance man. Over the years, he worked for the Preston School System and went on to have a long career with the janitorial department of the New London Board of Education, from which he recently retired.
Paul was also a past member of the Branded Ones and had a lifelong love for motorcycles and the old-school biker way of life.
Anyone who knew Paul knew that sitting still wasn’t really his style. His interests seemed endless. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, metal detecting, listening to classic rock, and collecting coins, old money, silver, gold, and all sorts of interesting trinkets and treasures. He enjoyed the hunt just as much as whatever he happened to find.
For his sons, Patrick and Eric, those interests became a childhood filled with adventures. There were countless fishing trips and camping trips, and always somewhere to go, something to look for, or something new to experience. Sunday mornings often meant heading to the Jewett City Flea Market with Dad, searching through tables of old things and seeing what treasures might turn up.
There were so many adventures and things Paul did with his boys over the years that it would be impossible to remember them all. What Patrick and Eric will always remember, however, is how deeply their father loved his children.
Paul had a personality that people remembered. He enjoyed making people laugh and had a sense of humor all his own. Behind his old-school biker image was a caring man with a big heart and a deep love for his family. Those closest to him knew just how much his children and family meant to him.
Above all else, Paul cherished his family.
He is survived by his sons, Patrick Paul Daley of Groton and Eric William Daley of Bozrah; his longtime domestic partner, Paula Cosgrove of Norwich; his brother, Arnold Daley of Taftville; and his sister, Denise Kelley of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, George E. Daley Sr. and Angie Mae Cornell Daley; his brothers, Thomas F. Daley, George E. Daley Jr., and William L. Daley; and his sister, Geraldine Daley.
Paul gave his sons something that cannot be measured by possessions: a lifetime of memories. Fishing trips, camping adventures, motorcycles, flea markets, classic rock, treasure hunting, laughter, and countless ordinary days with Dad that mean more now than ever.
To Patrick and Eric, he was simply Dad—and there will never be another one like him.
Visitation will be at the Labenski Funeral Home 107 Boswell Avenue
Norwich from 4pm-7pm on Friday September 25, 2026.
