

Norwich-Pauline Adelaide (Gross) Russ passed away one month short of her 102nd birthday in Canterbury at her daughters where she has resided for the last 5 years. Pauline was born on June 30, 1913 in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Her parents moved to Norwich, CT before 1920 where she grew up and was a resident for over ninety years. She married John Martin Russ in 1939 and raised a family of four. At the time of her death, Pauline was the oldest member at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Norwich. While raising a family, Pauline worked at Barkers department store, and sold Avon products. She was a member of the St. Germain club in Norwich
She was predeceased in death by her husband John Martin Russ, two children (Edward Russ and John P. Russ) as well as three sisters (Marie, Olga, and Helen) and one brother (Robert Gross). Pauline is survived by a son Donald Russ and his wife Christine of Shaftsbury, VT., a daughter Roberta Fletcher and her husband Wayne of Canterbury; daughter-in-law Jane (Hyde) Russ (Edward’s wife) of Lisbon. She also leaves behind grandchildren Dawn Russ of Arlington, VT, Wayne Fletcher of Vail, AZ, Michael Fletcher of Canterbury, Elisabeth-Anne Wight of Melrose, MA and great grandchildren Bryant Fletcher and Kathryn Wight as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 248 Broadway, Norwich, CT on Monday at 11 AM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
