Randolph P. Rudnick

September 9, 1952January 27, 2019

Norwich - Randolph Paul Rudnick, 66, of Norwich, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Harbor Village in New London, Connecticut. Randy was born in New Britain, Connecticut to Lorraine “Wayne” Plocher Rudnick and Thomas Rudnick Sr. on September 9, 1952. Randy was a strong and brave person who never gave up. He was an avid eclectic collector of many things and vinyl records. He loved pondering the universe as much as he loved his two daughters; Randie Haggerty and Samantha Venturo. He had a healthy obsession with reading that he passed down to his children along with too many books to count. To our dismay, he could solely survive on eggs, bacon, mushrooms, pistachios, Cheetos Puffs, orange soda, coffee rolls and small coffees. Randy is survived by his daughters Randie and Samantha and their respective spouses Sean Haggerty and Craig Murphy. Randy’s inquisitive and gentle nature lives on in his four grandchildren Elliott Venturo, Isabella Venturo, Hannah Haggerty and Sidney Haggerty. Randy is also survived by his loving and dedicated siblings Juanice Raymond and her husband Pete of Burlington, CT; Patricia Smead of Plainfield, CT; Deborah Jerard and her husband Carl of Charlestown, RI; and John Rudnick and his wife Shelley of McKee, KY. Randy was predeceased by his parents, twin brother Stephen Rudnick and older brother Thomas Rudnick Jr. He leaves behind seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 at Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 294 Washington Street, Norwich, CT. Anyone who would like to share their memories of Randy with his family is welcomed to join them.

Please visit to leave a message of condolence for Randy’s family. The family wishes to extend their deepest and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who provided their loving care and support to Randy. In lieu of flowers, please give back in any way to the Norwich community that he loved so much. It was important to him to help others in any way he could. We will miss your contagious laughter, generous heart, and sparkling blue eyes. We love you!

I was a fellow Lebanon Elementary student with both Randy and Steven. I have thought of both of them over the years.
My condolences to the family.
