Rob loved to call you when you were sleeping, he would talk for hours and crack you up. Rob’s extensive Bill Murray shirt collection was a direct representation of his personality, he was hilarious and was always the first to make a bad joke followed by, “too soon?” Rob was always right and would say he is the best looking in the room. Rob loved you so much and would tell you so. No matter where Rob was living, he would always be home for St. Pattys’s day at the Harp & Dragon in Norwich. Rob enjoyed watching sports and relaxing by the water, especially in Maine.
Rob’s life motto was, “we’re not here for a long time, we’re here for a good time!” Rob was right in that aspect and we should all learn to live more and love deeper each day.
While serving in the Army, Rob learned photography and utilized his skills during his time at Donner in Norwich where he loved to tell stories of the many school photo days he experienced. Rob’s attention to detail brought him to the casino. The craps pit was his home at both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Rob later joined Oxford Casino in Maine where he learned his other games and became a supervisor. Rob loved being in a suit and would often tell you how he "made this look good!" Of all his accomplishments, joining the team at Wynn Encore Boston was among his most cherished. He recognized them as the best and “where he belonged”.
Rob is survived by his son Robert “Harrison” Avery; Miranda Avery; his mother Maureen Cedio; sister & brother in-law Erica & Brian Kassab; grandmother, Phebe Cedio; and Auntie, Phebe Cedio. Additionally, his two nephews, step siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, as well as many close friends that he touched deeply will miss him. Rob is predeceased by his father, Frederick Harrison Avery Jr., and grandparents Henry P Cedio, Frederick H Avery Sr., and Catherine Avery.
Due to the pandemic, there will be a small private service with family and close friends.
Rob loved his country, to the point he tattooed American Soldier on his arms. In his honor, donations can be made to www.warriorsheartfoundation.org.
