Born on March 13, 1932, in Norwich, Bob attended Norwich Free Academy before embarking on a lifetime of hard work and dedication to his community. His strong work ethic took root at the young age of eight when he worked as a milkman alongside his Uncle Pat, delivering to homes throughout Norwich.
Bob later joined the U.S. Air Force and spent time stationed in Greenland. Following his military service, he built a career at Amgraph Packaging until his retirement. However, retirement did not slow him down—he soon took on the role of administrator at the Bozrah Moose Lodge. Bob joined the Loyal Order of the Moose in 1983. He was a very active member for 35 years. He joined the Moose Legion in 1985 and 5 years later he received his fellowship. In 2001, Bob earned the Moose’s most coveted degree of Pilgrim. He continued to work into his late 80’s at Lucky 7 at Foxwood Casino until it was shut down because of the pandemic.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Bob was an avid supporter of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, and UConn Huskies. Beyond being a fan, he played a key role in bringing Little League and Senior League baseball to Sprague. As part of the founding team that incorporated with the franchise from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, his contributions were so significant that the senior league field was named the Bob Labbe Field in his honor—a lasting tribute to his dedication to youth sports and community development.
