Rosanna Ayer Hofer passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family on Christmas Day, her favorite holiday, in Groton, Connecticut. Born on June 3, 1929 to Harold and Rose Vars and raised by George and Agnes Ayer, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Hofer, her son, Ralph M. Lechner, five sisters, four brothers and her parents. Her survivors include Rosann L. Travis (Kenneth) of Springfield, VA, Barbara J. Rose resided for most of her life in Connecticut and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of North Stonington. Many will remember her cake decorating skills and classes. Others will remember her gentle nature and friendly smile at the A&P Tea Company in Mystic where she worked for over 35 years. After retirement she fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in Florida and moved to Leesburg, FL. There she joined and became actively involved in the Haines Creek Baptist Church in Tavares. She helped others by volunteering at church and also at Hospice, the Good Samaritans and other organizations supported by her community.
Rose maintained many cherished friendships throughout the years. Her happiest days were entertaining or attending functions with family and friends. The theater, traveling, reading and visiting with friends and loved ones were among her favorite activities. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
