Groton-Samuel Quintana Torres, age 87, of Groton passed away on November 3, 2017 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born on July 1, 1930 in Carolina, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco and Julia (Quintana) Torres.
Samuel worked as a Yellow Cab Driver in New York City. He was a member of the Mansion of Light in Norwich, and volunteered for the Centro de la Communidad in New Londo and the Latino Sunido in Norwich.
Samuel is survived by a son Samuel Torres of Westerly, RI., a daughter Lydia Velez of Groton, a daughter Ada Sierra of Bronx, NY and a son George Torres of Yonkers, NY. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son Ernesto Torres and a brother Moises Torres.
Funeral services will be held at Camp Rico Funeral Home in Carolina, Puerto Rico and burial will be held a Gobierno Municipal, in Canovanas, Puerto Rico. Please do not send flowers.
