Savvas Constantinou

Old Saybrook-Savvas Constantinou, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 14, 2021 in Old Saybrook, CT.

Savvas was a loving father and grandfather (Papou) who is survived by his children Andrew of Hamden, Theodore of Old Saybrook, Paul of Old Lyme, and Anthony of Sarasota, FL; the mother of his children, Photini; and his grandchildren: Briana, Brooke, Christopher, Sandri, Andrea, Stella, Savvas A., Maryann, Johnathan, Savvas J., Dominique, Samantha, Morgan, Paul, Photini and Victoria. Savvas was born on July 12, 1935 in Nicosia, Cyprus and proudly served his country from 1953 to 1954. Savvas was a skilled mason who took great pride in his craft. He brought his family to the United States in 1968 and succeeded in living the “American Dream”, owning multiple restaurants with his family. He taught his children the value of hard work with great passion from a young age, which has since been passed down generations. Savvas enjoyed playing cards at the local coffee shop, listening to Greek music and ordering “just a few” french fries.

Savvas was a charismatic man, admired by many, whose memory will live on by those near to him for generations to come. Family and friends may visit Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Norwich on Friday, April 16th from 10AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.
