Hello, my name is Larry Harris, FTCM(SS), USN, RETIRED. Scott was a great shipmate and fellow submarine sailor, a wonderful friend and a mentor to me during our time together in REDCOM 1 in Newport, RI. I also was Scott's Master of Ceremony at his Navy Retirement. I'm sorry this is so late.  I didn't know Scott passed until a few hours after his funeral. I have been wondering how to find out where he is buried ever since.  I am still sad that I missed his funeral. Please accept my apology and condolences

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Scott’s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow “Bubblehead” departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS George Washington Carver (SSBN-656). 
To our “Brother-of-the-Phin” we say, “Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas.” Thank you for your service to our country.

 I remember our first meeting at Backus hospital when Courtney was 6 months old and your car wouldn't start.  Scott asked Jim if I could come get you.  That was the beginning of many shared moments. We are so sorry for your loss.  Life will not be the same without Scott's presence. Please know all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I only met Scott at EB , the man was a legend for his knowledge and helping all of us doing our jobs. When he retired EB lost one of the best. He left us and his family far to early .Sailor rest your oar.

Scott will be sorely missed by me.  We worked together on the SUBVETS Renovation Team together.  I will miss his smile and outstanding personality.  Rest your oar, Scott.

Scott was a great friend, co-worker and Shipmate. We spent more than a few weeks in Holy Loch over our career. We shared many laughs at our monthly "Port Call".  During recent renovations at USSVI Groton Base he put in countless hours making the clubhouse a place where Submariners were proud to visit. In November during our Thanksgiving Dinner at the club, Scott helped carve over 50 turkeys to serve to our young Sailors. He held the position of Senior Vice Commander at USSVI Groton Base. Rest your oars Shipmate. You'll be missed.

We were so sorry, shocked really, to hear of Scott's passing.  I was stationed with Scott at the U.S. Naval Submarine School on instructor duty.  Scott was very helpful to me, as he had proceeded me to that command and was able to mentor me after my arrival.  We became good friends and our families got to know one another as the years passed.    Scott achieved the rate of Master Chief Petty Officer while serving in the active reserves.  This is a testament to his dedication and advanced knowledge of submarine communications.  In later life we drifted apart geographically, but retained a close remembrance in our hearts.  Scott and his family remain in our thoughts and prayers.

So sad to hear this news. Scott was a true friend, mentor, Shipmate and Brother CPO. His leadership and guidance was instrumental in so many Sailor's careers, and not only in the Submarine Force, but the Surface Navy as well.   A natural leader, with an incredible presence. I will never forget you . . . RIP Brother . . .
