Toni Burbank March 18, 1944 – February 16, 2021
Toni Deanne Burbank, Age 76 passed away unexpectedly at Backus Hospital on February 16, 2021. She was born on March 18, 1944 in Vancouver Washington to Morris Portin and the late Bernadette Coates. She is survived by her father, Morris Portin, her brothers Dave Portin and wife Jenne, Jim Portin and wife Donna, Doug Portin and fiancée Teresa Messer and sisters Carolyn Tetz and husband Orville and Donna Cochran and husband Bob, her daughters Dianna Harrington and husband Dave, Penny Uzialko and fiancé Gary Cox, grandchildren Alicia Carle and husband Jason, Zachary Burbank, Arran Ferguson and partner Aaron Ercole, Joshua Harrington and great-granddaughter Maddyson Wessell.
She was predeceased by her mother Bernadette (Coates) Jaworski, daughter Tina Renee Portin, granddaughter Emilee Grace Harrington, and grandson Brandon Uzialko.
She had many jobs over the years from cashier at various stores (She loved working at Benny’s) to slot machine attendant at Foxwoods casino, but her most enjoyable was as a Personal Care Assistant at Recovery Resources where she worked after retirement for almost 2 years.
She loved bingo, Hallmark movies (really just about any movie, she had quite the collection) and socializing with her friends at Elisha Brook. She had a great sense of humor (trust us, we laughed a lot!!) and was fun to be around. She was famous for the one word texts which would always require a phone call and always ended a conversation with “loveyoubye” (say that fast as one word!!) She loved her family and was extremely happy to have had a chance to connect with her family in Oregon/Washington. She was loved and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the St. Vincent de Paul Place, 120 Cliff Street, Norwich, CT 06361.
Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Mom hated winter so “maybe Spring”.
