Victoria V. Maurice, 63 of Norwich, CT passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on March 11, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Noella Maurice Pond of Norwich, her brother, Arthur Maurice and his wife Joy of Mystic, her brother, Patrick (Ricky) Maurice and his wife Debbie and their daughter Monique of Groton, her brother, David Maurice and Michelle McCormack of Montville, her sister, Cheryl Maurice Roberts and husband Charles of Montville and her brother, Leo Pond and wife Megin of Groton.
She worked as a talented seamstress for the nuns at the Holy Family Academy in Scotland, CT. She was a wife, mother of two dogs (Henry and Stanley), devoted sister, aunt, and friend to everyone she knew. If you were lucky enough to have Victoria in your life, you know that she was a “mother hen” who lovingly watched over everyone.
In her lifetime Victoria enjoyed writing poetry. She loved capturing moments in time of her family and friends. She loved windy days, the ocean and family gatherings. She especially cherished reminiscing about easier times growing up and sometimes sharing her sibling's embarrassing moments that they wanted to forget, but she always remembered, just to make us laugh. Victoria was very sentimental, she told Cheryl “If my house is sold, don’t forget to take the stone in the yard. That stone was originally up at the farm, can you imagine how many loved ones walked on that?” She loved her family dearly.
We recently found this poem Victoria wrote that describes her completely. I give you the gift of my heart.
Take it and love it.
It is Fragile.
Never try to break it.
Shelter it with your heart.
Keep it forever safe inside your own.
It needs love to make it survive.
Always promise to never take it for Granted. Remember to always take it with you wherever you go. My heart is your heart now.
its constant warmth surrounds you
A gift has been given to you.
Unwrap it and make it your own.
Victoria loved with all her heart, and we know that she will remain close to us and watch over us all in spirit, having family gatherings in heaven and laughing. We are comforted knowing that she is no longer suffering. She will be missed dearly and will always be in our hearts. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Cemetery Uncasville.
