

Allen was a proud Navy Veteran reporting to the USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CVA-42) January 18, 1959. He served on the flight deck in the air department of Roosevelt through six years and five Mediterranean cruises. During his time on the Roosevelt he was advanced in rating to petty officer second class, promoted to fly three supervisor and awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Allen was recognized for his skills as an aircraft handler, competence as a leader and his cheerful presence as a shipmate. He later was employed by Bristol-Myers in Syracuse, NY for many years until his retirement in 1994 when he moved to the sunshine state. During his retirement, Allen worked for several golf courses in the Groveland area to play the game he loved most, and was honored to meet many pro golfers. He loved Upstate NY in the summer months and his camp at Lebanon Reservoir Campground Hamilton, NY.
Allen will always be remembered for his love for the USA, the American Flag, the NY Yankees, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car races and the Florida sunshine.
Allen is survived by his son Jeffrey Morton (Rebecca Morton) Oneida, NY, daughter Barbara Newton(Brett Houghton) Morrisville, NY, daughter Annette Morton (Jeffrey Meek) Sherburne, NY, brother Richard Morton, Hamilton, NY and family, sister Ruth Ann Morton Oriskany, Falls, NY and family, girlfriend Nancy Beran Bouckville, NY, several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Allen was predeceased by his wife Sharon Morton Groveland, FL, his parents Elmer and Hazel Morton, Eaton, NY, sister Linda J Smith and brother-in-law Gerald R Smith Oneida, NY, sister-in-law Kathryn A Morton, Hamilton, NY and nephew David V Chandler, Morrisville, NY.
A private Family service will be held to honor Allen's life in Eaton Cemetery, Eaton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
