Aunt Beatie, as she was known to almost everyone, worked in the Norwich Shoe Company, TACO in New Berlin and in the cafeteria at Guilford Central School. In 1954, she married Kenneth Eastwood, who predeceased her on March 15, 1998. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Helen Gramstad, Anna Ashcraft and Erma Noble.
Ken and Beatie planned their weekends and vacations around the Bluegrass festivals. They had the good fortune of becoming close friends with many other Bluegrass fans as well as some famous Bluegrass artists. She was often quoted as saying, “As long as the wheels are turning, we are happy!” Beatrice never had children of her own, but if she ever felt the need to be around them, she would go visit her sister, Helen who had seven.
Beatrice is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Per her wishes, there will be no public services. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Pioneer Cemetery in North Guilford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the organization or charity of your choice.
