Bertram Hawthorne

Bert was born in Medina, NY on July 9, 1925 the son of the late Peter and Olive Hawthorne.

In his earlier years Bert received vocational training during his attendence at Rome State School. He moved to Norwich in 1971 at which time he began a 40 years vocational training and employment with the Chenango County ARC/CWS and Day Habilitation Program.

Bert was a long time attendee of the Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich. He enjoyed music, dancing, helping others and spreading his cheer with a variety of volunteer work.

Bert is survived by many loving “adopted family members” and friends that he acquired throughout his lifetime and will truly be missed by all whose lives and hearts he touched along the way.

A funeral service for Bert will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, at 10:00 am from the Broad St. United Methodist Church, 74 No. Broad St., Norwich. The Rev. Nancy Hale will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home, 116 No. Broad St., Norwich on Sunday from 1-3 pm.
