Born to Leon and Irene (Snow) Kent in 1935 at St. John’s Hospital, Queens, Caroline was the 6th of 7 children. She grew up in Bayside, NY and attended Bayside High School. After high school, she won a scholarship to the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Caroline met and fell in love with Russell A. Scira. They were married June 15th, 1957 at Fort Totten, NY.
Caroline worked as a graphic designer for both American Airlines and Pepsi Cola. She was an accomplished florist and worked in the field for many years. She was also the master designer and inspiration for Past Impressions Floral Designs. She was a Girl Scout leader and a longtime member of Berean Bible Church in Greene, NY.
A devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt, Caroline also cherished her many life-long friendships.
Caroline is survived by her beloved husband Russell; her daughter Lauralee (James) Shafer; sons Rusty Scira; Mark (Barbara) Scira; grandchildren Anna Shafer, Brian Shafer, and Avalon Scira; her sweet sister Edith (Harry) Ryan; as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she deeply treasured.
A memorial services is planned May 2019.
