Born May 5, 1978 at Loring AFB, Maine. Chris was the son of David and Deb Carnachan, of Norwich. He graduated from Norwich High School, where he was lettered in Varsity Football, a great passion (and a pretty good player too). After high school Chris went to Buffalo State and SUNY Morrisville where he earned a degree in early childhood education. He was a teacher at DCMO – BOCES, Norwich Campus, which he loved so much. A great heartbreak was not being able to be with “his wee kids.”
The passion for football was ever present and as his sons grew, he became involved with the Norwich Cyclones. He was assistant coach with “D” team, then head coach for “C” team where his post huddle mantra was “we are family.” Thanks for all the love and support of the team, families and all involved. Another passion - DJ Gee Q AKA “The Bear” with Elements Crew # Alliance. He loved to DJ and could often be heard “spinning” at Rita’s and VIP Lounge. He played for weddings and graduations, never charging much, because he knew the cost from the family for everything else. The common theme here is kindness, generosity and compassion, and his beautiful smile. Chris and Casey believed strongly in family. Thank you to Khyle, Carlos, Gee and so many others for being part of the family.
Chris married Casey Collins of Norwich, daughter of Mark and Barb Collins, also of Norwich, on September 1, 2007. Together they have four great kids, Quincy, Sophie, Cameron, and Desmond. Chris is also survived by his sisters, Jennifer Carnachan, Amanda and Mark (Hicks), and Katlyn Carnachan, all of Norwich; along with many aunts, uncle, brothers and sisters in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Chris lived “Carnachan Strong” and that’s how we will honor his memory. The family would like to thank all those who were able to be at the impromptu “Welcome Home” Sunday evening, along Country Club Rd. and Route 12.
A celebration of Chris’ life will take place at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’ memory may be made to his children’s college fund C/O GHS Credit Union, 35 E. Main St. Norwich, NY 13815 or to Hope Lodge Center, 125 South Huntington Ave. Boston, MA 02130
