It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Douglas Mack, who died peacefully at his home on October 14, 2025, at the age of 93. He was surrounded by his loving family, after a life rich with love, laughter and hard work.
Doug is a dedicated veteran who served in the Korean War from 1951-1952.
In 1959, he met the love of his life, Kathryn (Kay) Mack. Their 66 years of marriage is a testament to their enduring love, with 35 of those years happily spent at Tippecanoe Village in Zephyrhills, Florida. During their time there, Doug served his community as both a part time security guard and head of maintenance. His dedication was formally recognized in 2011 when the village presented him with an award in appreciation of his service.
Doug embraced hard work from an early age. For over three decades he worked as a meat cutter for the Victory Market (later The Great American) in Greene, NY. To earn extra money, he cut and processed deer meat for local hunters.
An avid outdoorsman, Doug loved to hunt and fish, finding peace while in pursuit of big and small game. Each summer, he and his family would retreat to Wellesley Island in New York, where they camped and fished together, often ending the day with lively fish fries to celebrate their catches.
Doug was a man whose spirit warmth and joy, lighting up every room he entered with his infectious smile and goofy eyes (if you know, you know). His playful nature brought levity to even the most serious days, reminding everyone around him not to take life too seriously. His silly made-up songs will live in our memories forever.
Doug was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn; his son, Richard Mack; his parents, Clarence and Ethel Mack; his brothers, Bob Mack, and Richard Mack; and his sisters, Betty Graham, and Beverly (Bim) Powell. Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia (James) Gagnon, of Greene, NY, and Christy Foster, of Bristol, TN, his grandchildren, Holly (Michael) Doroshenko, Beth (Jeffrey) Gladwish, Devin Fernandez, Nora Gagnon, Sean (Eleanor) Gagnon, Kim Hopkins, Melissa (Richard) Perman, and Sean Coffman; his great-grandchildren, Greyson Gladwish, Joanna Gladwish, Griffin Doroshenko, Cameron Doroshenko, Garrett Cheney, Megan Cheney, Ashley Perman, and Buddy Perman; and his sister, Shirley Betz.
A private burial service was held in Columbus, NY with family.
