Connie was born in Smyrna on January 16, 1937 the daughter of Clayton and Margaret (Howard) Coye. She grew up in Smyrna and attended the Smyrna and Sherburne schools. On February 6, 1954 she married Robert Wright who survives.
Connie’s life was her family, church and community. For 32 years she and Bob operated the Wright-Way Discount store in Smyrna where countless members of the community would gather for information, groceries and lunch. Her church, The Smyrna United Methodist Church was a very important part of her life. She was a lifelong member of the church and spent many hours working for the betterment of her church including the God’s Bread Food Bank.
Connie was very musically talented having come from the Coye family which was the family that started the Smyrna band. She was the last living member of that family who played in the band. Connie was in charge of the Smyrna Band for many years and was also a member of the Sherburne Community Chorus.
Connie was also a life member of the Smyrna Fire Dept. and was the first woman to attend fire school. She was also the first women to become a member of the Smyrna Emergency Squad. She was a former member of the Smyrna Village Board, had been Deputy Mayor and was a former member of the Smyrna Grange.
Connie is survived by her husband Robert of Smyrna, Robert (Deb) Wright of Herkimer, Phil (Linda) Wright of Winnemucca, NV and Casa Grande,AZ, Mark (Dr. Delia) Wright of Granbury, TX, Jo Anne (Randy) Hitz of York, NE and Jon (Pam) Wright of Smyrna, her grandchildren Jillian Wright, Ashley (Josue) Tello, Sarah Wright & Ashtin Preston, Guy Wright & Jacque Elizabeth Xiquin, Ross (Stephanie) Hitz, Alex (Hunter) Adkins, Reed (Rachel) Hitz, Marti (Collin) Schrader, Tyler (Katelin) Wright and Brooke (Jessie) Quinn, Kristen and her great grandchildren Anthony & Irene, Finn, Ryder, Sophia. Also surviving is her sister Carolee Coye of Richfield Springs along with many nieces, nephew’s great nieces and great nephews. Connie’s extended family includes Ada Burrs, Bim Palmer, Charlie (Chic) Palmer and Charlie and Linda Brown
Due to the current health conditions across the country, services for Connie will be held at a later date this year.
