Binghamton General Hospital.
Born in Georgetown in Oct. of 1928, Genevieve was the daughter of Frank LaRock and
Francis Lago. She lived most of her life in Norwich and had attended the Norwich High School.
Genevieve will be best remembered for her years working at the YMCA snack bar and in the
cafeteria at Perry Browne school. Earlier in her life she had been employed by the Maydole
Hammer Factory. Everybody knew Genevieve had an ear to listen and ADVICE to give, whether
or not they took it; and their secrets were always safe with her. As Gary Beadle always said, “s--t
happens” and Genevieve had adopted that as her new motto.
Genevieve is survived by her husband, Donald Cummings of Norwich. She was the
beloved mother of her children: Donald “Mike” Cummings and Eileen of Minnesota, Patrick C.
Cummings of Norwich, Merrie Beadle and husband Gary of South New Berlin, Kimberly
Cavanaugh of Minnesota, and son-in-law Gary Cavanaugh of Norwich. Also surviving are many
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Genevieve’s special nieces whom she
thought of as daughters, Robin Gross and Melanie Krutcher; sister-in-law, Patricia Sutton of
Norwich; and brother-in-law, Charles “Bud” Cummings of Norwich. Genevieve was predeceased
by her sisters and brothers: Betty Deiss, Neva Holdredge, Leila LaRock, Carl LaRock, and Earl
LaRock, and by her beloved cat, Baby.
Services for Genevieve will be held on Fri., May 27, at 5 p.m. from the R. J. Fahy Funeral
Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the Earlville Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R. J.
Fahy Funeral Home on Fri. from 4-5 p.m.
