George E. Decker
March 16, 1934 – October 24, 2018
George E. Decker, of North Norwich, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2018. He was born on March 16, 1934 to the late Charles Sr. and Inez Decker. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Josephine Decker; his brothers and sister in law, Charles Jr. and Rita Decker, and Kenneth Decker; and his brother in law, Ray Olin. Survivors include his children, Kathie Lawrence, and Daniel and Theresa Decker; his grandchildren, Cheryl and Linn White, Jonathan Lawrence, Jessica and Eric Detandt, Michael and Jaclyn Decker, Elizabeth and Hector Bedoya, and Joshua Decker; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard and Janet Decker; his sister, Delores Olin; and many nieces and nephews. George served his country in the US Army as a Green Beret Medic. Upon his discharge, he began a thirty year career with Proctor and Gamble as a Cardiac Researcher. George enjoyed spending his time outdoors cutting wood and working on home improvement projects. Over the years, he also enjoyed raising turkeys and chickens with his family and spending time with his Chows. George was a faithful teacher of Bible Studies and discipleship programs. He was a devoted family man and a faithful 14 year member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle. George will be missed by all who were privileged to know him. A funeral service for George will take place at 10:00 am on Monday October 29, at Faith Baptist Tabernacle, 10 Utica Rd. Sherburne, with Pastor J. Fischer officiating. Burial will follow at North Norwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.

My late husband, Keith, and I shared some special times during our years at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hamilton, NY . George loved the Lord and was so devoted to Jo, a sweetheart. Prayers go out to his family.
