Ivan Dunagan of Plymouth passed away on November 30, 2021 after living a full, vibrant, 82 years. He was born on June 17, 1939 in Smyrna the son of Henry and Gladys (Benedict) Dunagan.
An avid outdoorsman, hunter, animal lover, family man and caretaker Ivan truly embodied the sentiment of “living for a living.” Of course, it was not only those things that brought him joy, as he loved his career at Ballie Lumber, where he worked most of his adult life, where he proudly worked until he was 80.
Ivan is survived by his wife Mellissa Dunagan and their children Jorden Dunagan and Sarah Cruz (T.J. Bush). His children by his former wife MaryLou Wheeler Squires also survive: Ivan (Anne) Dunagan and Tammy (Bob) Bishop. He is also survived by his siblings Perley Cook and Darleen Dunagan.
Ivan cherished his time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ivan will not only be remembered for the bonds he made with his family members but also for his impeccable memory of his upbringing and his humble nature. Often, when an experience from the past was mentioned he had the perfectly fitting story or could pull out photos and recall the day as if it had just happened.
He spent his final years enjoying his home, land, animals and loved ones. In his final weeks he knew he was loved and shared his love with those who meant the most to him.
While he will absolutely be missed, Ivan made an impression on so many people that his dedication for passionate and hard work, love for family and friends and keeping connections strong will live on through those who survive him.
Formal services for Ivan will be held in the spring.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
