Jerry W. Hamilton

Jerry was born on September 30, 1949 and was raised in East Pharsalia. He spent most of his adult life locally. After learning the carpentry trade from his uncle Richard Hamilton and Harold Tracy, Jerry spent many years working as a carpenter. He later went on to work for the Norwich Cemetery Association as the Grounds Maintenance Manager at Mt. Hope Cemetery and retired after 41 years of service.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents Harold and Mary (Keator) Hamilton and his brother Barry Hamilton.

Jerry is survived by his best friend Dodie that he met in 1972 and later married in 1979. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Bliss of Norwich, son Rodney Hamilton and wife Tawni of Mebane, North Carolina, daughter Nicole Thompson and husband Joe of New Berlin, daughter Kristi Hamilton and boyfriend Michael McVey of Mt. Upton. Also surviving are his grandchildren Ryan Hamilton, Alyssa Hamilton, Joey Thompson, Mitchell Thompson, Brooklyn Thompson, Benjamin McVey and Dylan McVey as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed building tree houses, dollhouses, playground sets and furniture pieces around his home. He also enjoyed building his garage, decks and several outdoor sheds. Jerry enjoyed his hunting, fishing, stock car and Nascar racing and watching TV. He could be found spending time with his family and beloved dogs Zipper and Champ. Jerry also loved to drive and would take road trips or long rides every chance he got. He was known as a good time Charlie and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

At Jerry’s request there will be no formal funeral services or calling hours.

There will be a Celebration of Jerry’s life on March 18, 2023 from 12pm- 4pm at Taylor’s Country House, 297 NY 320, Norwich, NY.
