Jody F. Crotwell, a compassionate, hard-working, beloved, kind-hearted, honest, humorous, and generous man, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on May 3, 1971, in Cortland, New York, Jody grew up in Moravia, NY, and graduated from high school in 1989.
Jody worked for over 30 years as a Certified Surgical Technician at Chenango Memorial Hospital, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He was not only a great coworker but also considered his colleagues as family.
On September 15, 2011, Jody married Shawn Crotwell at the United Church of Christ in Norwich, NY. Jody was a wonderful husband and a caring friend, always willing to help anyone in need. He cherished his family and friends dearly and was a great "Great" uncle. Jody loved his fur babies Benji, Eva, Phineas, and Bella.
Jody had a variety of personal interests and hobbies. He enjoyed building Legos, going on hikes and nature walks, playing video games, watching true crime documentaries, and listening to podcasts.
Jody is survived by his husband, Shawn Crotwell; his mother, Sally Crotwell; his brother, Scott Crotwell (Lorie); his sister, Erin Crotwell; his nephew, Steven Crotwell; his niece, Gabrielle Leonard; his mother-in-law, Barb Felsheim; his brother-in-law, David Leonard (Johnna Tokarcik); his sister-in-law, Andrea Montondo, brother-in-law Cassey Montondo; and two nieces: one nephew and one great niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Crotwell.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Chenango Memorial Hospital OR Staff and Doctors for all the years spent with Jody through the good and hard times. They were truly more than coworkers; they were family.
Calling hours will be held on August 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the United Church of Christ, located at 11 W Main St, Norwich, NY 13815. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 5697 St. Hwy. 12, Norwich, at 3:00 pm. Following the burial, everyone is invited to gather at the Norwich Buffet to share memories. Please note that food will not be provided."
