

John was born on December 8, 1937 in Oxford where he lived his whole life the son of John R. and Mary (Howe) Shepler, Sr.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years Sandra (Sandy), his brother Milton Shepler and sister-in-law Linda of Florida, children Cheryl Greenawalt and son-in-law Lloyd Greenawalt of Hopewell, NJ, James and Julie Shepler of Preston, NY and Brett Shepler of Stamford, NY, his grandchildren Kristianna Osterwald and her fiancee’ Cliff Hebb of Egg Harbor Township, NJ., James Shepler Jr. of Greene, NY Alisha Shepler of Buffalo, NY, Jon Shepler of Norwich, NY, Andrew Shepler of Preston, NY, Kera Dupuis of Albany, NY, Ryan and Carolyn Shepler of Jefferson, NJ and Madison Shepler of Stamford, NY. Also surviving are his greatgrandchildren Victoria Shepler of Jefferson, NY, Kayla Kempsky, Nathan Parades, Isabella Parades of Egg Harbor, Township, Victoria Shepler of Stamford, NY and Dalak Shepler of Washington, State. Numerous nieces and nephews. John is also survived by his dear friends Tom and May Enright, his Wednesday coffee buddy Gary Simpson, Hank and Philamena and Cathy Shepler Christopherson who was there every day for him.
John was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Shepler and sister and brother-in-law Bridget and Bill Fowlston and his canine friend Brandy.
John worked for a period of 27 years for NYSEG as chief mechanic retiring in1993. He also owned and operated Shepler’s Construction Co. for many years and continued serving his customers until a few years ago. John also operated Shepler Auto Sales Towing and Recovery.
In his spare time John was an avid car buff and always had several vehicles and always had to have the newest and latest model. He enjoyed trains and for many years had a model train station set up in his basement which he enjoyed tinkering with. He enjoyed snowmobiling and for several years maintained many of the local trails. During good weather you could find him on one of the many motorcycles that he owned. He loved riding with a group of people exploring the area.
John was also very instrumental in bringing the Staley collection of cars with his tow trucks to the Northeast Classic Car Museum prior to it’s opening day.
A service for John will be held on Saturday, February 8 ,2025 at 3:00 pm from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday February 8,2025 from 1-3 pm.
