Julia A. Franklin

Julia A Franklin, 79 of Preston NY, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2022 with her family by her side. Julia was born on December 29, 1942, the second child of Herman and Jessie Benedict, both predeceased.

On March 21, 1959 Julia and Allen W. Franklin, Sr. married. During the 63 years of marriage, she worked beside her husband on the family farm while raising 5 children. In 1992, she earned her GED and went on to become a CNA at Chenango Memorial Hospital. After retiring she had more time to do the things she enjoyed most which were knitting, quilting, gardening and feeding the birds. For any dish-to-pass gathering it was known Mac-n-cheese would be there made faithfully by Julia. Each year, Memorial Day was very special to her as she would gather her immediate family and visit at least 12 different cemeteries to honor loved ones lost of not only her relation but of those she cared about.

Julia is survived by her husband Allen, brother John Benedict, sisters Patricia Rundell (David), Sharon Penner and Nancy Sherwood. Her children Allen Franklin Jr (Lynn), Kathleen Christophersen (Peter), Bonnie Haynes (Dennis), Timothy Franklin (Cindy) and Jennifer Franklin-Simpson. Grandchildren Hans Franklin (Christine), Andrew Franklin (Mallory), Cody Franklin (Morgan), Isaiah Christophersen (Heather), Dustin Christophersen (Angela), Aaron Haynes (Stephanie), Shelby Haynes, Crystal DeLapp (Gary), Dakota Simpson and Daysha Simpson. 11 Great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Julia will take place at 1:00pm on Monday, April 11, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich, with Rev. Jeremy Stopford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00am until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date in JD Lewis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Julia’s name to the American Heart Association or the JD Lewis Cemetery in Preston NY.
