Lawrence E. Smith

Lawrence E. Smith, 87, of Mt. Upton, passed away Thursday morning, November 18, 2021, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Larry was born on November 6, 1934 in German, NY the son of Ivan and Roselea (Wood) Smith. He grew up in the area and attended school in Plymouth and Norwich. In his early working years he was employed by the Norwich Knitting Mill and eventually worked for 20 plus years as an auto mechanic for Fred DeCarr in Sherburne.

On October 4, 1997 he married Donna Regaro who survives. Besides his wife Donna of Mt. Upton, he is survived by his children Glenn (Cindy) Smith of Morris, Gary (Debra) Smith of Norwich, Donna Furgison of Norwich, Wayne (Rose) Smith of Ga and Alan Smith of TN, his step-children Melissa (John) Briggs of SC, Michael VanWhy of Mt. Upton, many grandchildren and many siblings. He was predeceased by his children Kenneth Smith and Diane Eckert, step-children Richard VanWhy, Daniel VanWhy and daughter-in-law Amy Smith.

A funeral service for Larry will be held on Monday, November 22, at Noon from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.
