Linda May Collier, 71, affectionately known as “Grammie Linda” and “The Babysitter” dedicated her life to the love and care of several generations of Children, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her home.
Linda was born on August 30, 1947 in Norwich the daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive (Stedman) Sayles. She spent her entire life in the North Norwich and East Pharsalia communities and graduated from the Norwich High School.
Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, babysitter, sister and friend to many.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years L. “Ernie” Collier, daughter Heather Fredenburg and her biggest fan, her granddaughter Chole. Also surviving are her siblings, Melba Phillips, Margaret Wilcox, Evelyn Sayles and Marty Sayles, her sisters-in-law Dawn (Jon) Anderson and Kathryn (Eric) Conant. She is also survived by an enormous circle of family, friends, honorary nieces, nephews and grandbabies who could always hear her beautiful voice on the “Linda Line” to wish you a Happy Birthday, be embraced by a warm hug or enjoy a platter of delicious cookies or famous pies.
Linda was predeceased by her sons Russell and Trenton, brothers-in-law David Phillips and Ken Wilcox, Father and mothers-in-law Eugene, Mary and Darthy Collier.
A service for Linda will be held on Wednesday, April17, at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11-1.
