Mária E. Balazs, 88, of Bainbridge, NY passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025. She was born in Budapest, Hungary to the late Antal and Mária Baranyai. While still in Hungary, Mária and her beloved soulmate Jozsef were Freedom Fighters protesting against the communist regime during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. They fled Hungary to Austria and in early 1957 immigrated to the United States, to the state of New Jersey where they married. Mária and Jozef became patriotic American citizens five years later.They enjoyed their lives together in the States until his passing in January 2023 after 66 years of marriage.
Mária is survived by her three daughters, 1 son- in- law; four grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; a brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews still living in Hungary.
Mária will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
