I was just thinking of Ms, Conklin the other day. She made an unforgettable impression on my life. You see, as my Gym Teacher in the huge S-E school pool, I had to admit to her that I couldn't swim. She said, "let's see". "jump in right here". I did (the water was up to my chest). She then said "I will be right back", left for a few minutes and came back, "Where were we" she asked?. "Now, try jumping in here". I was ignorant to the fact she moved me down the side of the pol about 5 ft. I jumped in, hit the bottom and came back up. I was treading water!!! I was swimming!!. I will never forget what Ms Conklin did for me. I will also always remember that beautiful orange Buick Skylark convertible the family drove around Chenango Lake during those beautiful summers of my youth.
May God's perpetual light shine on you always Ms. Conklin. Thank you for what you did for me.
