Mary Judith Barkley

She was born Mary Judith King on January 7, 1944 in Sangerfield, NY to Donald and Charlotte (Roe) King. She graduated from Waterville Central School and Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical College earning an associate’s degree in food services. She also attended Morrisville College earning her Bachelors Degree in Dietary Science.

On September 10, 1976 she married Gary Barkley of Norwich, NY. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital, Syracuse NY and Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY as a Certified Dietary Technician. After retiring from CMH to fill her days she worked at Walmart and volunteered at the Chenango Memorial Hospital gift shop.

She enjoyed reading, tending to her flower gardens and spending time with family. She especially loved her many cats (kiddos) they cared for over the years. Though she spent most of her adult life in Norwich she looked forward to receiving the Waterville Times to stay connected with her friends and the community itself. Always up for a good novel or to discuss current events she was usually the first pick for a holiday game of trivia. Judy was a beloved Aunt who always remembered birthdays, was willing to partake in silly games and delighted in hearing about the many adventures of her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She will be missed immensely.

Judy is survived by her husband, Gary of 48 years, her sister Jeanne (Wes) Pray of Baldwinsville, NY, and her brother Kevin(Claudia)King of Oxford, NC. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Mary Ann(Reg)Vidler, Norwich NY and Debbie(Joe)Loewenstein of Cincinnati, OH , brothers-in-law Guy Davis, Gordon(Sue)Barkley of Norwich, NY and Terry(Barb)Barkley of Utica NY. Nieces and Nephews, Sara Diane(Jason)Nolan, Mary Beth Cavalieri(Lee Gordinier), Becka King, Maggie Kaufmann, Shanee(Eric)Lomauro, Kirstin(Chris)Mackey, Michael Loewenstein, Andrew (Brittany) Loewenstein, Hannah Loewenstein, Ben(Terah)Davis, Mike Davis, Jessica(Bob)Hoople, Cole(Beth)Barkley, Julia(Justin)Herring, and many great nieces and nephews.

Judy was predeceased by her mother and father Charlotte and Donald King, her mother-in-law, Beverly Streichert, and her sister-in-law Sheryl Davis.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Mt Hope Cemetery, Norwich, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of RJ Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich NY.
