Myrt was born on February 11, 1930 in East Pharsalia, NY. She was one of seven children born to Clarence and Cleone Sayles. She was predeceased by two sisters, Elma Wright and Florence Bennett Hammond. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dick Angle; her children, Cynthia van Deusen Webb and Robert Webb, of Texas, Robert and Sylvia van Deusen, of South Otselic, Pat van Deusen, of Texas, and Pamela van Deusen Frizzell, of Texas; her grandchildren, Matthew Lollman, Robert van Deusen, Tammi van Deusen, Jessica van Deusen, Jeff Barnhart, Ciara Frizzell, and Cole Frizzell; six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia and Harold Morse, of Michigan, Verda Wehner, of Cincinnatus, and Margaret and Carroll Smith, of Sherburne; her brother, Ed and Donna Sayles, of East Pharsalia; and several nieces and nephews.
Myrt graduated from Norwich High School in 1949. She worked for several years at Victory Markets and retired from Norwich Pharmacal Company in 1982. She had several hobbies including sewing, gardening and antiquing. Most importantly, she loved to write newsy letters with her favorite writing skill being poetry. Others appreciated her poetry writing talent as some of her works are recorded in the National Archive of Poems.
Due to the current pandemic crisis, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral service. Burial will take place in the J.D. Lewis Cemetery in Preston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Myrtle’s memory may be made to the East Pharsalia Baptist Church, Care of Jerry Sayles, 841 County Road 10, McDonough, NY 13808.
